Its unfailing this
Bond I share with him.

Face had seen
Many years.
Her faded blue eyes
Closed forever
To the horrors of
Everyday life.
She passed through the
Night, a quiet,
Peaceful way to go.
Her life was filled with
Love and she’d stretched it
As far as it would go.
Her arthritic hands
Had seen their
Fair share of black
Dirt, and weeds,
And flowers tended
With love she always shared.
Her soft, tanned skin
Had seen its share of sun.
Soft freckles speckles here
And there with scars
To show how far she’d gone.
Raising a hand to
My mouth I hold back
A sob for the woman
I dearly loved,
My mom.

Her face as she
Walks down the aisle
With a man she’s looked
Up to her whole life.
His old wrinkled face
Is glistening with tears,
His eyes wet and full
Of pride for his baby girl.
Handing her off
He whispers in her ear
‘I love you’
Pats her soon-to-be
Husband and
Steps to the side,
Finally letting his baby girl go.
The love of her life
Grabs her hand
Bringing her closer
Lovingly, tenderly.
Lifting her veil
They know this will
Last forever.
The preacher speaks
But they barely hear
Their eyes and ears
Only for each other
And the heartfelt
‘I do’s’
That fall fro
